TRANSPORT

Fellrunner busBUSES
The villages are served by the Fellrunner bus service which is operated and driven by local volunteers.  Currently there are services to Penrith on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with a service to Carlisle on a Wednesday.  For full details of the timetable see the Fellrunner website http://www.fellrunnerbus.co.uk

TRAINS
The Settle Carlisle railway runs through Culgaith, described as one of the most scenic railways in the country. The station at Culgaith was closed in 1970 but the signal box and level crossing remain.  The nearest station is at Langwathby from where it is possible to get trains to Carlisle and Leeds and stations in between.  For timetable information see http://www.settle-carlisle.co.uk

RURAL WHEELS
Rural Wheels provides door to door transport for people in rural areas who do not have access to public transport.   Customers are issued with “smartcard” that stores points to pay fro your travel instead of cash.  There is also a telephone number to ring to book the transport in advance.  Transport is charged at 30p per mile and is available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.  For more information on the scheme and how to apply for a smart card contact
